Ok, he is not "El Che",... who is he?

What I would say it is not exactly that Obama is not different. I am reading his book “Dreams From My Father” and his life is really interesting. He is son of an African man and his stepfather was an Indonesian man. He lived in a Muslim country and his name is arab. As a young student he helped poor people in deprived neighbourhoods of Chicago. In 2008 I visited the USA and even homeless pinned their hopes on him. But his commitment is not easy.

Obama is not "El Che"

One year has passed since the inauguration of Barack Obama as President of the United States. It is time to evaluate his work. Some people said they are disappointed. Why?

Throughout this year, Obama has tried to do what he promised. He is facing a big financial crisis, two wars, an ambitious reform of the American healthy system, etc. Moreover he cannot work in silence because he is a world idol. Everybody looks at him.

But the misunderstanding is to think he is a revolutionary man. He belongs to the system. He had to win the primary election in one of the two parties of the United States. He had to collect money; he had to negotiate with lobbies. He had really hard opponents. He defeats them. Nor he is a rebel. He is just a reformist. His Republican opponent would have been a reformist in case of being elected. The Western system is exhausted and in order to overcome the crisis some reforms are necessary. Democratic systems can only change slowly. People’s mind must be changed. Some people have to lost privileges, some business have to disappear. Justice is not cheap. We can but we have to find how to do it.

We just want to have fun

I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells what you gonna do with your life
Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one
But girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have -

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls - they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls - they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun,
They want to have fun,
They want to have fun....

AND BOYS TOO!

I am the reference point

I am the point on the others lean on. I am the reference point. No movement, just a static man in the middle of the crazy storm of the others.

I am starting to feel a strange feeling: the loneliness.

I am starting to think that I am alone in the middle of the desert and write my thoughts down in my notebook. Then I take one page and put it on the sand. After this I wait for yours comments but… ‘No comments’ sir, we are sorry but…

Tempus fugit

What to do?
The first option is just to look at. Is it enough for you?
Maybe.
However, I think you must take part...
As other people did in the past.
Before wrinkled face, before being tired, before being too late... before the rain

to be still alive, or something

The last weekend is over. A new working week is ready to eat my time. For hours I am going to belong my company. Then I will be allowed to enjoy a little time. Sleep, breakfast, work, lunch, work, little free time, dinner, sleep,... Suddenly Friday but quickly Sunday and Monday... While my life passes I hardly have time to say to my loved ones how much I love them. I run, just run. Till when?

Environment: Is there anything really new?

Bags

When I was a child there was not plastic bags for buying food. Buyers had their own bag made of cloth and they were used for years. This way our impact on the environment was far less than nowadays. Not allow to use plastic bags is not a new idea though it is a good decision.

Bottles

In the past, people were given money if they returned a glass bottle to the shop instead of putting it in a rubbish cup. This way people recycled the bottles. This is another example of a ‘new’ decision that is not new.

Why the food is not sold loose?

Do you want to save money and energy and help the planet? Then you should not buy two apples wrapped in plastic on a polypropylene tray. You muts ask for two of them and put them in your cloth bag.

What I mean is that recycling was already invented, at least since the 70’s.

When I visited the United States in 2007 summer I only saw New York. Surprisingly, an amount of rubbish even larger than in Europe was generated. To be honest I would bet that in Europe this levels of rubbish can be reached soon if we do not anything.

If our grandmothers knew the way we buy food… They would think that we are crazy or that we are spoiled new rich people.

Our only hope is the current tendency to be worried about our planet.

When a person knows and can’t make the others understand, what does he do?

When the more powerful dignataries in the world meet in a big summit like the Copenhagen's one. People hope they act. This is the reason why we, the world citizens, are now desperate. The big meeting is finished and no goal has been scheduled.

The New Year Eve in Madrid (Spain)

People gather in ‘La puerta del sol´ square. People wear strange hats. They do not mind how old they are. Before entering the square there are police checkpoints in which the police officers watch what people try to introduce into the square. Glass bottles are not allowed.

When only a minute is left for the New Year begin, bells are tolled. Their sound is piercing and they are some quick hits. These are just a warning. Thanks to it people are ready. Then a more low sound of bell is heard and it is followed by other hits. They are slowly tolled. People eat a grape after hearing each bell. They sound twelve times, one for every year month. It is thought that if you eat those grapes this way you will have a good luck during the New Year.

After this Spanish custom, everybody appears to be very happy and they smile and drink for hours. Most of them drink in pubs that are far more expensive than they were only four hours before.
